Gestes inlassables pour transpercer la surface visible jusqu’à perte de vue. Ali parmi d’autres lève la conscience de l’identité à double face. La bi-nationalité qui déresponsabilise les Etats et rend l’homme apatride.

(1964, Puerto Cabello, Venezuela – Liban)
Dino Chatila was born in 1964 in Puerto Cabello, Venezuela, of lebanese origin and lawfully residing in Trieste, Italy. autodidact artist. He works and lives in Brussels, Belgium. He took part in the course of prof. jacobo borges « painting space » at the internationale sommerakademie für bildende kunst, Salzburg, Austria
Psychanalyse d’un dieu
Il est presque impossible de reproduire l’image d’une œuvre de Dino Chatila car cette image trahirait la “vérité” de l’oeuvre, sa magie, son originalité aux frontières de différents mouvements artistiques : abstraction, cinétisme, minimalisme. Certaines œuvres sont composées par 27.000 épingles juxtaposées, reflétant ou absorbant la lumière ambiante. D’autres, composées d’une feuille d’aluminium, martelée avec justesse, jouent également avec cette lumière, en évoquant un effet de « miroir primitif ». D’autres encore, aussi composées d’une feuille d’aluminium, sont peintes de couleurs vives, donnant une abstraction dont vous reconnaitrez l’origine.
Tout est suspendu chez Dino Chatila : la mémoire de l’histoire et de l’origine, le reflet, la brillance, l’intériorité.
C’est une oeuvre métissée où l’Orient (par son origine libanaise), l’Amérique Latine (par sa naissance mais aussi l’imprégnation d’une partie de l’art latino-américain), l’Occident (redéfini entre Byzance, l’empire Austro-Hongrois, de Trieste à Bruxelles).
C’est une première grande exposition de Dino Chatila à Bruxelles.
Psychoanalysis of a god
It is almost impossible to reproduce the image of a work of Dino Chatila because this would betray the « truth » of the work its magic, originality border of various artistic movements: abstraction, kinetic art, minimalism. Some works are composed by 27.000 pins juxtaposed, reflecting or absorbing ambient light. Others, composed of aluminum foil, hammered aptly, also play with this light, evoking an effect of « primitive mirror. » Others, also composed of aluminum foil, are painted in bright colors, giving an abstraction which you will recognize the origin.
Everything hangs on Dino Chatila: the memory of the history and origin, reflect, shine, interiority.
It is a mixed work where East (by his Lebanese origin), Latin America (by birth but also impregnating a part of the Latin American art), the West (redefined between Byzantium the Austro-Hungarian empire, from Trieste to Brussels)
This is the first major exhibition of Dino Chatila in Brussels.
Dino Chatila takes the material for itself ; a narration emerges from the taking and giving of substance, and from the physically demanding process of piercing, crossing and scrubbing. The canevas are treated in a gesture reminiscent of his aluminium and glass sculptures, whose contours suggest the harsh sound of matter responding to the artist. Unexpected perspectives arise from the unshaped when man indulges in the game of gods.
